The craft beer industry continues to take the country by storm, showing no signs of slowing down. This is occurring for a few reasons, perhaps first and foremost that the craft beer industry is localized from the brewmaster to the bartender, offering a genuine experience to the consumer. It is shielded from automation and globalization, as everything is made on-site. Beers straight from the tap cannot be purchased online, so local stewardship plays a vital role. Nationally, there are now 6,372 craft breweries – a 16% increase from 2016. Ohio’s craft beer growth has been even stronger, having increased total craft breweries by 72% over that same time frame. This growth has acted as a catalyst for economic development, and has spurred rehabilitation of many urban and suburban buildings and neighborhoods.
